Newington College Sesquicentenary Building
Completed: 2013
Value: $30 Million
Newington required an inspirational symbol of the future celebrating learning and knowledge with a carefully controlled relationship to the original Founders Building.
We respected existing building alignments, created a new visual heart for the campus and upgraded and integrated the existing academic circulation with new accessible circulation nodes with a strong & symbolic access bridge placing the new library at the centre of the academic campus.
We articulated the large volume required by developing a 2-building concept and created a transparent facade with views in and out celebrating learning and knowledge. Crucial to the Centre's design is an acoustically sealed twin wall facade with integral solar tracking louvres which exceeded energy efficiency targets.
